Confirming the Bicycle Before Bulk Production
Tovin Bike prepares bicycle samples for importers, distributors, wholesalers and private label brands before customized orders enter bulk production. The sample establishes a physical reference for the agreed frame, components, color, branding, function and packaging.
Projects may begin with an existing bicycle model, a buyer specification, technical drawings or a reference sample. Before sample preparation, we review the bicycle type, target market, component level, quantity and required customization.
A clear specification reduces repeated revisions and helps determine whether the project can use an existing platform or requires broader Custom Bike Development.
Information Required Before Sampling
An accurate sample begins with complete project information. Buyers should provide:
- Bicycle type and intended application
- Frame material, frame size and wheel size
- Drivetrain, brake, fork and suspension requirements
- Preferred component brands or performance level
- Motor and battery details where applicable
- Pantone color and logo artwork
- Labels, manuals and packaging requirements
- Destination-market specifications
- Estimated bulk order quantity
These details are recorded in the sample specification or component BOM. Specified components are checked for availability before preparation. If an alternative is proposed, it should be approved before installation.
Component-related decisions can be reviewed under Material & Component Selection.
Standard and Customized Samples
A standard sample normally uses an available model and existing specification. Preparation usually requires around 7–15 days, subject to model and component availability.
A customized sample may include component changes, a special frame color, decals, private label materials or custom packaging. These samples commonly require around 15–30 days. Special frames, limited component availability or revised artwork may require additional time.
Sample cost and freight depend on the actual bicycle configuration, customization level and delivery destination. These costs should be confirmed after the specification has been reviewed rather than estimated from a different model.
Color, Logo and Packaging Approval
Digital artwork is useful for checking dimensions and layout, but it does not fully represent the appearance of paint, decals or printed packaging. A physical sample provides a more reliable basis for confirming color, surface finish and branding positions.
The sample review may include:
- Frame color and surface appearance
- Logo size and decal position
- Head badge and model labels
- Warning and barcode labels
- User manual and warranty card
- Accessory and tool pack
- Protective materials and carton artwork
Frame color requirements can be coordinated through Color & Finish Customization, while packing details are covered under Custom Packaging & Labels.
Functional and Appearance Inspection
Before approval, the sample is checked against the confirmed specification. Inspection points may include:
- Frame, fork and wheel configuration
- Component fitment and BOM consistency
- Wheel alignment and spoke condition
- Brake and shifting adjustment
- Steering and suspension function
- Key fasteners and accessories
- Electrical functions on applicable models
- Color, decals and visible finish
- Packing arrangement and carton information
This is a product and function review, not a substitute for any market-specific laboratory testing requested by the buyer.
Revisions and Pre-Production Approval
Buyer comments should identify the exact specification, appearance or packaging point that requires adjustment. We record accepted changes and confirm whether they can be applied directly or require a revised sample, color proof or packaging sample.
Bulk production begins after the final sample, BOM, artwork and packaging details are approved. The approved information remains the reference for component preparation, assembly, inspection and packing.
