Develop a Bike for Your Target Market
Tovin Bike supports custom bike development for importers, distributors, wholesalers and private label bicycle brands. A project can begin with one of our existing bicycle models, a buyer’s specification sheet or a physical reference sample.
Development may cover mountain bikes, road bikes, electric bikes, fat tire bikes, folding bikes, city bikes and kids bikes. The purpose is to create a production-ready specification that fits the target market, required component level, branding plan and purchasing budget.
We do not treat “custom” as an unlimited promise. Available changes depend on the selected frame platform, material, component supply, order quantity and production feasibility. Buyers looking for a broader summary of our services can review the Custom & OEM Bicycle Programs page.
Start with a Clear Project Brief
Before recommending a bicycle platform, we need to understand how the product will be sold and used. The initial brief should include:
- Bicycle type and target market
- Intended rider or application
- Wheel size and frame size
- Preferred frame material
- Drivetrain, brake and suspension requirements
- Motor and battery details for electric models
- Quantity by model and color
- Target price range
- Logo, labels and packaging requirements
- Destination country or port
Reference photos are useful for communicating style, but they are not sufficient for an accurate quotation. Component level, frame setup and packing requirements must also be confirmed.
Confirm the Frame and Component Specification
After the product direction is clear, we match the project with an available frame platform and prepare the main specification. Frame material may include aluminum alloy, carbon fiber or selected steel options where available.
The component BOM normally covers the fork, drivetrain, brakes, wheels, tires, crankset, handlebar, stem, saddle, pedals and required accessories. Electric bike projects also require confirmation of the motor, battery, controller, display and charger.
Each selected component affects cost, MOQ, lead time and after-sales requirements. The specification should be reviewed before sampling so that the sample and bulk order are based on the same component level. Detailed configuration options are explained under Material & Component Selection.
Develop the Color and Brand Details
Once the bicycle structure and main components are confirmed, we prepare the visual details. These may include:
- Frame color and finish
- Logo and frame decals
- Head-tube branding
- Model markings
- Product and barcode labels
- User manuals
- Carton artwork
- Shipping marks
Buyers should provide vector logo artwork, color references and the required branding positions. An artwork layout is checked before it is applied to the sample. Available finishes and decal methods depend on the frame material and model.
More detailed logo preparation and placement requirements are covered on our Logo & Branding Solutions page.
Build and Approve the Sample
A customized sample is used to check the actual frame setup, component fitment, appearance, color, decals and agreed packaging details. Customized samples commonly require around 15–30 days, depending on frame availability, component selection and branding complexity.
Sample cost and courier charges are calculated according to the confirmed configuration and destination. If the frame, major components or artwork change after the first sample is completed, additional cost and development time may be required.
Approval points should be recorded in writing, including the final BOM, color reference, decal layout, labels, manuals and packing method. The approved sample and documents then become the reference for bulk production. See Sample Development & Approval for the full confirmation process.
Move from Approval to Bulk Production
Customized OEM bicycle orders commonly start around 300–1,000 units per model or color. Actual MOQ depends on the frame, components, color quantity, branding and packaging.
Bulk production usually requires around 25–45 days after the sample, specification, artwork and packing details are approved and the deposit is received. Complex configurations or special components may require additional time.
Production follows the approved BOM. Inspection focuses on component consistency, frame and finish, wheel alignment, spoke tension, brake and shifting adjustment, key fasteners, finished function and packing condition. Any proposed component substitution should be reviewed before assembly.
Request a Development Quote
For an initial review, send the bicycle type, target market, required configuration, expected quantity, logo files, packaging needs and destination. If available, include a specification sheet, reference images or an existing sample.
We will use these details to identify a practical bicycle platform, clarify missing specifications and prepare the quotation, sample plan and expected production schedule.
